Ages 6 to 12
Purpose: To develop young children and adolescents by using martial arts in a way that creates confidence, integrity, and respect toward themselves and others. Students are expected to follow commands, participate in class, and treat their classmates as friends.
THE GOAL OF TRAINING IS NOT PERFECTION.
Children develop and learn at different rates. Testing and earning higher belt rank is based as much on dedication and effort as it is on demonstrating great technique.
Simply put, Team Samurai's students are not expected to be Champion Fighters or "Karate Masters". However, they are expected to attempt their absolute best.
Junior Students have the opportunity to test every three months for a half-belt (stripe), and three months after for a full belt color.
Students must earn a nomination to test. Consistent class attendance, attention to instructors, and displaying excellent technique during class is required for invite.
BELT TESTING IS NOT A RIGHT
Team Samurais treats belt testing as an honor. Achieving higher ranks requires maturity and development.
No student under the age of 13 is allowed to test for Black Belt. Students who have achieved black belts from others schools will be examined and given a unique "Grey" rank until they are of age.
